Through Others’ Eyes
Through Other’s Eyes is a dialogue facilitation project that speaks directly to the need for open channels of communication between Israeli Arab and Jewish youth. Using photography as a medium for group- and self-expression, the program provides a forum for participants to explore and create a collective identity. This project is organized in two parts. The first part begins in Israel, bringing together 16 year-old Jewish and Arab youths who learn to relate to each other through collaboration on a variety of art activities, focusing mainly on photography. The second part of the project, which a Puffin Foundation grant helped fund, brought this group of Arab and Jewish youths to Camp Shomria in Liberty, NY, for an intensive three-week workshop. The project seeks to build bridges between “sides of conflict” and to encourage peaceful co-existence.
