Museum of the City of New York’s “Green Activist New York Fest”
October 15, 2021
Join the Museum of the City of New York for Green Activist New York Fest, a free, outdoor community event this Sunday, October 17, 11am – 3pm. MCNY, in partnership with The Waterfront Alliance, will showcase the work of NYC’s thriving climate activist scene and inspire New Yorkers of all ages to contribute to positive change. The event accompanies two of the Museum’s exhibitions, Rising Tide and our ongoing Activist New York exhibition in the Puffin Foundation Gallery.
The offerings include several family-friendly, drop-in educational activities organized by the Waterfront Alliance; a Speak-Out rally featuring young climate activists including Anna Kathawala (Fridays for Future); Giselle Herrera (RISE Rockaway), Katheryn Gioiosa (TREEage), and Lonnie Portis (WE ACT); and a performance by the young Brooklyn rockers Control the Sound. They will also be hosting a Green Fair on the Front Terrace for vendors of ethical, eco-friendly, and local products, including clothing, jewelry, chocolates, and candles.
