Do you remember your first carousel ride? Filmmaker Peter Daulton does. While traveling near his hometown of Bradford, PA he discovered that Midway Park was not only still in existence but had barely changed in the years since he had first visited as a child in the mid-sixties. In fact, Midway Park, opened originally in 1898 on the shores of Lake Chautauqua in Western New York, remains almost unchanged to this day as one of the oldest continually operated amusement parks in the country and one of only twelve trolley parks still in existence. The story of how this park survived owes a lot to the family that owned the park, the New York State Park system and a dedicated group of volunteers.
