QUEENS of Queens: Women of Woodside

QUEENS of Queens, Women of Woodside, Modern Day Folk Songs by Rashmi

was created and presented  by the award winning singer-songwriter, actor, screenwriter, and producer.  For this project, she honored local heroines of Woodside by writing songs about each one and sharing stories of their incredible journeys that led them to make Queens their home.  A local bar owner from Ireland, a new mother from Columbia, a Filipina-American artist and activist were the heroines highlighted in her songs.  Presented with Jenny Park on cajon and Rashmi on guitar and lead vocals in the beautiful NYC landmark Moore-Jackson Community Garden to an audience of all ages, the show celebrated the Woodside-based individuals, their communities, and reminded us of the universality of the human experience.
