An Everlasting Experience
An Everlasting Experience was a live-streaming play, with artists from Argentina, Chile, and the US to raise money for an indigenous community, Los Wichis, in Formosa – Argentina. The donations were used to finish the construction of two schools.
The play was based on real-life situations to show that beyond the personal ambitions of each character, there are deep internal emotions that reflect the pain that each one has endured in life. Three close friends regularly have video calls to share their issues. Acts One and Two focus on the three women and these issues while Act Three, branches into the spiritual realm where the “higher self” of each character becomes involved in an abstract, symbolic, and magical way.
Opening night was on May 19th, 2023 followed by a second live performance on May 20th. The play was presented in Spanish with English subtitles operating simultaneously in the live streaming.
One of the highlights was that it was live and combined professionals and artists from three countries with an audience in very diverse places such as Buenos Aires, Mendoza in Argentina; Boston, San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Seattle, in the US; and Santiago in Chile.
We fundraised over $3,000 for Los Wichis. The primary platform was through GoFundMe where we raised $2,855 with an additional $400 in direct donations in the US and through a bank account in Argentina. We delivered all the funds to Los del Camino: a group of volunteers led by Juan Francisco Petrosino that has been on the ground in Formosa, working with Los Wichis for over three decades.
