Red Thread: the prisoner and the painter

The film is a way of calling attention to Judy Clark’s lengthly internment but she stands as a highly articulate representative of a larger community of women that are aging-out in our country’s prison system. Using Ms. Clark’s poetry as an armature, original music was composed by Michael Minard to tell the story of the thrity years and counting of her sentence. Judy Clark is credited as the ‘lyricist’ for the music. Duston Spear is ‘the painter’ , a contemporary of Judy’s she took a different path but now shares the concern about invisibility as an older woman in our society.
